Ingredients

  • Sticky rice - 200 grams
  • Gac fruit puree - 100 grams
  • Coconut milk - 100 ml
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Roasted peanuts - 2 tablespoons, crushed
  • Fresh banana leaves - for wrapping (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and steam it for about 20 minutes until it is tender.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves but do not boil.
  4. Once the rice is steamed, transfer it to a mixing bowl and add the gac fruit puree, coconut milk mixture, and mix well until the rice is evenly colored.
  5. Return the colored rice to the steamer and steam for another 10 minutes to ensure the flavors meld together.
  6. To serve, mold the sticky rice into a dome shape and sprinkle with crushed roasted peanuts and sesame seeds. Optionally, wrap in banana leaves for presentation.
