Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 150 grams
  • Peanuts (roasted and crushed) - 50 grams
  • Coconut milk - 100 ml
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 250 ml
  • Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice for about 20-25 minutes until it becomes translucent and sticky.
  3. In a saucepan, mix the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves completely but do not let it boil.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and pour half of the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir well to combine, allowing it to absorb the flavors.
  5. Serve the sticky rice on a plate, drizzling the remaining coconut milk mixture on top, and sprinkle the crushed peanuts and sesame seeds over it for added texture and flavor.
