- Banana leaves (optional) - for serving
Steps
- Rinse the black sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer lined with banana leaves for about 30-35 minutes until tender.
- While the rice is steaming, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, then remove from heat.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a serving plate and drizzle half of the sweetened coconut milk over the top.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added flavor and texture, and serve the remaining coconut milk on the side for drizzling.
