- Glutinous rice - 150 grams
- Water - 300 milliliters
- Coconut milk - 100 milliliters
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Roasted peanuts - 50 grams
- Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
- Steam the rice over boiling water for about 30-35 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and fully cooked.
- While the rice is cooking, prepare the coconut sauce by combining coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- Once the rice is done, transfer it to a serving bowl and drizzle half of the coconut sauce over it. Mix gently to combine.
- Top the sticky rice with roasted peanuts and sprinkle sesame seeds if using.
- Serve the remaining coconut sauce on the side for drizzling before eating.
