Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch thick slices.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, lime juice, black pepper, and chili flakes to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu slices to the marinade, making sure each piece is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly oil the grill surface.
  5. Place the marinated tofu slices on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly charred.
  6. Once cooked, remove the tofu from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped spring onions, fresh cilantro, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving.
