  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 100 milliliters
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • Chili sauce - for serving

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu between paper towels or a clean kitchen towel for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into 1.5 cm cubes or rectangles.
  3. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Coat each tofu piece evenly in the cornstarch mixture, shaking off any excess.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Carefully add the coated tofu pieces to the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the tofu from the skillet and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with a side of chili sauce.
