Steps
- Press the firm tofu between paper towels or a clean kitchen towel for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- Cut the pressed tofu into 1.5 cm cubes or rectangles.
- In a bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Coat each tofu piece evenly in the cornstarch mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Carefully add the coated tofu pieces to the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the tofu from the skillet and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with a side of chili sauce.
