Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Cornstarch - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Fresh herbs (like cilantro or mint) - for garnish
  • Chili sauce - for dipping (optional)

Steps

  1. Drain the tofu and press it between paper towels to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into 1.5 cm cubes or rectangles.
  3. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder together.
  4. Coat each tofu piece evenly with the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  5. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
  6. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the coated tofu pieces in the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  7. Fry the tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the fried tofu and place it on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs and accompanied by chili sauce for dipping.
