Ingredients

  • Pork shoulder - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Fish sauce - 15 ml
  • Brown sugar - 10 grams
  • Five spice powder - 5 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 2, finely chopped
  • Black pepper - 2 grams
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml
  • Lime juice - 15 ml
  • Fresh cilantro - 10 grams, chopped
  • Cooking oil - for grilling

Steps

  1. Cut the pork shoulder into thin slices, about 1 cm thick.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, five spice powder, minced garlic, shallots, black pepper, sesame oil, and lime juice to create the marinade.
  3. Add the sliced pork to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly oil the grill grates.
  5. Remove the pork from the marinade, shaking off excess liquid, and place it on the grill.
  6. Grill the pork for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  7. Once cooked, remove the pork from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with steamed rice or lettuce wraps.
