Ingredients

  • Shrimp (large, peeled and deveined) - 300 grams
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Shallots (minced) - 1 small
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh coriander (for garnish) - a handful

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, shallots, fish sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, lime juice, black pepper, chili powder, and vegetable oil. Mix well to create a marinade.
  2. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Skewer the marinated shrimp on skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning).
  5. Grill the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are opaque and cooked through, brushing with leftover marinade occasionally.
  6. Remove from the grill and garnish with fresh coriander before serving.
