- Fresh shrimp - 400 grams
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Fresh ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Lemon grass - 1 stalk, finely chopped
- Fish sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili - 1, finely sliced (optional)
- Fresh coriander - for garnish
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 250 milliliters
Steps
- Rinse the shrimp under cold water and devein them if necessary. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- In a small bowl, combine the fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped lemon grass. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.
- In a steamer or a pot with a steaming rack, add 250 milliliters of water and bring it to a boil.
- Place the shrimp in a single layer on the steaming rack. Drizzle half of the prepared sauce over the shrimp and season with salt to taste.
- Cover the pot and steam the shrimp for about 5-7 minutes, or until they turn pink and are cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the steamer and transfer to a serving plate. Drizzle the remaining sauce over the top and garnish with fresh coriander and sliced red chili if desired.
- Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
