Ingredients

  • Pork ribs - 500 grams
  • Soy sauce - 50 ml
  • Fish sauce - 30 ml
  • Honey - 20 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 2, minced
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 30 ml
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, honey, minced garlic, minced shallots, black pepper, five-spice powder, lime juice, vegetable oil, and chili flakes to create the marinade.
  2. Add the pork ribs to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or BBQ to a medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the ribs from the marinade and shake off excess marinade. Reserve the marinade for basting while grilling.
  5. Place the ribs on the grill and cook for about 15-20 minutes on each side, basting with the reserved marinade every 5 minutes, until the ribs are nicely charred and cooked through.
  6. Once cooked, remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve the grilled ribs hot, garnished with fresh herbs and lime wedges, alongside steamed rice or a fresh salad.
