Ingredients

  • Pork ribs - 500 grams
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Fish sauce - 15 ml
  • Olive oil - 15 ml
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 2, finely chopped
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Star anise - 1 whole
  • Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Fresh coriander - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, chopped shallots, black pepper, star anise, cinnamon powder, five-spice powder, and red chili flakes to create the marinade.
  2. Add the pork ribs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight for more flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or barbecue to medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the ribs from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Discard the remaining marinade.
  5. Grill the ribs for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and have a nice char on the outside.
  6. Once cooked, remove from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with a side of low-carb vegetables or a salad.
