Ingredients
- Seitan - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
- Lettuce leaves - for serving
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, rice vinegar, lime juice, and chili flakes to create the marinade.
- Cut the seitan into rib-like strips and add them to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Allow to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
- Remove the seitan from the marinade and place it on the grill. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until grill marks appear and the edges are slightly crispy.
- While grilling, you can brush some of the leftover marinade onto the seitan for extra flavor.
- Once done, remove from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
- Serve the grilled seitan with fresh lettuce leaves and garnish with cilantro. Optionally, serve with additional lime wedges or a dipping sauce of your choice.
