Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Warm water - 120 ml
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Sugar - 5 grams
  • Salt - 3 grams
  • Olive oil - 10 ml
  • Mozzarella cheese - 150 grams
  • Vietnamese sausage (gio lua) - 50 grams, sliced
  • Bell pepper - 50 grams, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - a handful, chopped
  • Chili sauce - 30 ml (optional)
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 10-inch round on a floured surface.
  6. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Spread a thin layer of chili sauce over the dough, if using.
  8. Evenly distribute the mozzarella cheese over the dough, then add the sliced Vietnamese sausage and bell pepper.
  9. Sprinkle with black pepper and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  10. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh cilantro, slice, and serve hot.
