Ingredients

  • Bitter melon - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Chili flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the bitter melon under cold water, cut it in half lengthwise, and remove the seeds. Slice it thinly.
  2. In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the sliced bitter melon to the skillet and stir-fry for about 5 minutes until it starts to soften.
  4. Sprinkle in turmeric powder, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and chili flakes (if using). Stir well to combine and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the bitter melon is cooked through but still slightly crunchy.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
