Ingredients

  • King oyster mushrooms - 300 grams
  • Rice paper sheets - 4 sheets
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Clean the king oyster mushrooms and slice them lengthwise into thin strips to resemble squid.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, brown sugar, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Add the mushroom strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated, and let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. While the mushrooms marinate, prepare a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  5. Once marinated, thread the mushroom strips onto soaked skewers (if using), or grill them directly on the grill.
  6. Grill the mushrooms for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are slightly charred and tender.
  7. Meanwhile, lightly toast the sesame seeds in a small pan over low heat until golden brown.
  8. To serve, place the grilled mushrooms on a serving plate, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped cilantro, and serve with rice paper sheets for wrapping.
