Ingredients

  • Rice noodles - 200 grams
  • Chicken breast - 150 grams, sliced
  • Shrimp - 150 grams, peeled and deveined
  • Chicken broth - 1 liter
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges
  • Bean sprouts - 100 grams
  • Chili sauce - to taste

Steps

  1. Soak the rice noodles in warm water for 20 minutes until softened, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic and sliced onion until fragrant and translucent.
  3. Add the sliced chicken breast to the pot and cook until the chicken is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and add the shrimp, cooking until they turn pink, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in the fish sauce, soy sauce, and black pepper. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. In serving bowls, place a portion of the softened rice noodles. Ladle the hot broth with chicken and shrimp over the noodles.
  7. Top with chopped green onions, cilantro, and bean sprouts. Serve with lime wedges and chili sauce on the side.
