Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs - 500 grams, boneless and skinless
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Fish sauce - 15 ml
  • Honey or sugar substitute - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 2, finely chopped
  • Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh coriander - 10 grams, chopped for garnish

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, honey (or sugar substitute), minced garlic, chopped shallots, five-spice powder, black pepper, and sesame oil. Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  3. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it on the grill. Grill each side for about 6-8 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F) and has nice grill marks.
  5. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  6. Serve the grilled chicken garnished with fresh coriander.
