Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Cucumber - 1 medium, julienned
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, julienned
  • Fresh mint leaves - 20 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams
  • Fresh lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Coconut aminos - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Red chili - 1 small, sliced (optional)
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Crispy fried shallots - 20 grams (optional for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1 cm cubes.
  2. In a non-stick skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat and add the tofu cubes. Cook until golden brown on all sides, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the julienned carrot, cucumber, and red bell pepper.
  4. Add the cooked tofu, fresh mint, and cilantro to the bowl with the vegetables.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together lime juice, fish sauce, coconut aminos, minced garlic, and sliced chili (if using). Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.
  6. Let the salad sit for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld, then serve garnished with crispy fried shallots if desired.
