Ingredients

  • Beef tenderloin - 200 grams
  • Lime juice - 50 ml
  • Fish sauce - 15 ml
  • Sugar - 5 grams
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Red chili - 1, thinly sliced
  • Cucumber - 1/2, julienned
  • Carrot - 1/2, julienned
  • Fresh mint leaves - 20 grams, roughly chopped
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams, roughly chopped
  • Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
  • Roasted peanuts - 30 grams, crushed
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Thinly slice the beef tenderloin against the grain into very fine strips.
  2. In a bowl, combine lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and sliced chili to make the marinade.
  3. Add the beef to the marinade and let it sit for about 10 minutes to tenderize and absorb the flavors.
  4. While the beef is marinating, prepare the vegetables: julienne the cucumber and carrot, slice the red onion, and chop the mint and cilantro.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the marinated beef, cucumber, carrot, red onion, mint, and cilantro.
  6. Toss the salad gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
  7. Serve the salad on a plate, garnished with crushed roasted peanuts and a sprinkle of black pepper.
