Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 200 grams, thinly sliced
  • Fresh lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Fresh chili - 1, finely sliced
  • Red onion - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Fresh mint leaves - 20 grams, torn
  • Cilantro - 20 grams, chopped
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large, for serving
  • Roasted peanuts - 30 grams, crushed
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and sliced chili to create the dressing. Mix until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the bowl and toss to coat. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
  3. While the beef is marinating, prepare the vegetables: slice the red onion and tear the mint leaves, and chop the cilantro.
  4. After marinating, quickly sear the beef in a hot skillet for about 1-2 minutes until just browned but still rare. Remove from heat.
  5. In a large serving bowl, combine the marinated beef, red onion, mint, and cilantro. Toss gently to mix.
  6. Serve the salad on a bed of lettuce leaves and sprinkle crushed roasted peanuts on top. Season with black pepper to taste.
