- Beef sirloin - 200 grams

- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 1 medium, thinly sliced
- Carrot - 1 small, julienned
- Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
- Red bell pepper - 1/2, julienned
- Fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Peanuts - 2 tablespoons, crushed
- Chili pepper - 1 small, thinly sliced (optional)
- Lettuce leaves - for serving
Steps
- Thinly slice the beef sirloin against the grain and place in a bowl.
- In a separate bowl, mix lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and half of the sliced shallots to create the marinade.
- Pour the marinade over the sliced beef and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- While the beef is marinating, prepare the vegetables by julienning the carrot, cucumber, and red bell pepper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the marinated beef (discard the marinade), carrot, cucumber, red bell pepper, chopped mint, and chopped cilantro.
- Toss everything together gently to combine.
- Serve the salad on a bed of lettuce leaves, and sprinkle with crushed peanuts and sliced chili pepper for garnish.
