Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs - 300 grams
  • Green onions - 100 grams
  • Ginger - 10 grams, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Fish sauce - 15 ml
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Lime - 1, for serving

Steps

  1. Prepare the chicken thighs by cleaning and trimming any excess fat.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, fish sauce, black pepper, and minced garlic to create a marinade.
  3. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
  4. While the chicken is marinating, slice the green onions and ginger.
  5. In a steaming pot, bring water to a boil and place a steaming basket over it.
  6. Layer half of the sliced green onions and ginger at the bottom of the steaming basket.
  7. Place the marinated chicken thighs on top of the green onions and ginger.
  8. Top the chicken with the remaining green onions and ginger.
  9. Cover the pot and steam the chicken for about 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 75°C.
  10. Once cooked, remove the chicken and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  11. Drizzle sesame oil over the sliced chicken and serve with lime wedges.
