- Sticky rice - 100 grams
- Coconut milk - 200 ml
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - a pinch
- Tapioca starch - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 300 ml
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer for about 30 minutes until it becomes tender and sticky.
- In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, honey, and a pinch of salt. Heat gently over low heat, stirring until the honey dissolves.
- In a small bowl, mix the tapioca starch with a little cold water to form a slurry, then add this to the coconut milk mixture, stirring continuously until it thickens slightly.
- Once the sticky rice is cooked, remove it from the steamer and divide it into two bowls.
- Pour the warm coconut sauce over the sticky rice in each bowl.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
