Ingredients

  • Mung beans - 100 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pandan leaves - 2 pieces (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the mung beans under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak them in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked mung beans and place them in a pot with 500 ml of fresh water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer.
  3. Cook the mung beans for about 20 minutes, or until they are soft and mushy. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Once cooked, add the sugar and salt, stirring until dissolved. If using pandan leaves, tie them into a knot and add them to the pot for extra aroma.
  5. Slowly pour in the coconut milk and mix well. Continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. You can serve it warm or chill it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving.
