Ingredients
- Black beans - 100 grams
- Water - 1 liter
- Coconut milk - 200 ml
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Pandan leaves - 1-2 leaves (optional)
- Ice - as needed
Steps
- Rinse the black beans under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the black beans in water for at least 4 hours or overnight to soften them.
- Drain the soaked beans and place them in a pot with 1 liter of fresh water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 30 minutes or until the beans are tender.
- If using pandan leaves, tie them in a knot and add them to the pot during the last 10 minutes of cooking for added aroma.
- Once the beans are cooked, remove the pandan leaves (if used) and add sugar and salt to the pot. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Pour in the coconut milk and stir well. Allow the mixture to simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve warm or chilled over ice for a refreshing treat.
