Ingredients
- Sticky rice - 100 grams
- Coconut milk - 200 milliliters
- Durian flesh - 100 grams
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Water - 300 milliliters
- Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the sticky rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer for about 25-30 minutes until tender.
- While the rice is steaming, in a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over low-medium heat until the sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Do not let it boil.
- Once the sticky rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour half of the coconut milk mixture over it, mixing thoroughly. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- In a separate bowl, mash the durian flesh until smooth. You can adjust the amount of sugar in the coconut milk mixture if you prefer it sweeter.
- To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top it with the mashed durian, and drizzle with the remaining coconut milk mixture. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture.
- Enjoy your Chè Nếp Sầu Riêng warm or chilled!
