- Black sticky rice - 100 grams

- Water - 500 milliliters
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - a pinch
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
- Pandan leaves - 2 pieces (optional, for aroma)
Steps
- Rinse the black sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a pot. Add 500 milliliters of fresh water and pandan leaves if using. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 30-40 minutes until the rice is tender.
- In a separate saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Heat gently until the sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat.
- Once the rice is cooked, drain any excess water and transfer it to serving bowls. Pour the sweetened coconut milk over the rice.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added flavor and texture. Serve warm or at room temperature.
