- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fish sauce (halal) - 1 tablespoon
- Rice flour - 3 tablespoons
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil (for frying) - 200 ml
Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine minced squid, shallots, garlic, black pepper, salt, sugar, fish sauce, rice flour, cornstarch, and chopped cilantro.
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly until they form a sticky mixture.
- With wet hands, shape the mixture into small patties, about 5 cm in diameter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat until hot.
- Carefully place the patties into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the patties from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with dipping sauce or fresh vegetables.
