Ingredients

  • Mướp (gourd) - 200 grams, cut into thin slices
  • Shrimp - 150 grams, peeled and deveined
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Chicken or vegetable broth - 500 ml
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste
  • Vegetable oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped shallots, sautéing until fragrant.
  2. Add the shrimp to the pot and cook until they turn pink, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the shrimp and set aside.
  3. Pour the chicken or vegetable broth into the pot and bring to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, add the sliced mướp (gourd) to the broth. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the gourd is tender.
  5. Return the cooked shrimp to the pot, add fish sauce, salt, and pepper to taste. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander before serving.
