Ingredients

  • Snakehead fish - 300 grams, cleaned and cut into pieces
  • Water - 1 liter
  • Tomatoes - 2 medium, chopped
  • Daikon radish - 100 grams, sliced
  • Fresh ginger - 1 thumb-sized piece, sliced
  • Shallots - 2, thinly sliced
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams, chopped
  • Fresh Thai basil - 20 grams, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a pot, bring 1 liter of water to a boil.
  2. Add the sliced ginger and shallots to the boiling water and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and sliced daikon radish to the pot and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes.
  4. Carefully add the snakehead fish pieces to the pot and let them cook for about 5-7 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Stir in the fish sauce, lime juice, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped cilantro and Thai basil before serving.
