- Vegetable broth - 500ml
- Fresh shrimp - 100g, shelled and deveined
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- Fresh cilantro - 15g, chopped
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped shallots, and sauté until fragrant and translucent.
- Add the shrimp to the pot and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they turn pink, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the diced bottle gourd and cook for another 2 minutes, allowing it to soften slightly.
- Pour in the vegetable broth and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the bottle gourd is tender.
- Add the fish sauce, black pepper, and salt to taste. Stir well and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro just before serving.
