  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Fish sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 150 milliliters
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped for garnish
  • Red chili - 1, sliced (optional)

Steps

  1. In a medium-sized pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped shallots and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add the canned tuna (drained) to the pot, breaking it into large chunks gently with a spoon.
  5. Pour in the fish sauce, soy sauce, black pepper, and water, stirring to combine all the ingredients.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
