- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 200 milliliters
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
Steps
- In a medium bowl, mix the shrimp paste, fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and black pepper together to create a marinade.
- Add the cleaned mackerel pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced ginger and red chili, sautéing until fragrant.
- Add the marinated mackerel to the pan and sear for about 3 minutes on each side until slightly browned.
