  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 200 milliliters

Steps

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, then sauté ginger, garlic, and shallots until fragrant.
  2. Add the mackerel chunks to the pan and sear them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until lightly browned.
  3. Stir in the pickled mustard greens, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper, mixing well.
  4. Pour in the water, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  5. Cover the pan and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mackerel is cooked through and flavors meld.
