- Jasmine rice - 150 grams
- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Maple syrup - 15 ml
- Sesame oil - 10 ml
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ground black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 15 ml
- Green onions - 2, sliced
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 10 grams, chopped
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions, usually using 300 ml of water for 150 grams of rice.
- While the rice is cooking, drain the firm tofu and press it to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into 1 cm thick slices.
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, ground black pepper, and chili powder to create a marinade.
- Add the sliced tofu to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated tofu slices and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden and slightly charred.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and set aside.
- To serve, place a generous portion of jasmine rice on each plate, top with grilled tofu, and garnish with sliced cucumber, green onions, and chopped cilantro. Serve lime wedges on the side.
