Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams
  • Rice (jasmine or basmati) - 150 grams
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Fish sauce - 15 ml
  • Brown sugar - 10 grams
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml
  • Vegetable oil - 10 ml
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 100 grams
  • Carrot (julienned) - 50 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 10 grams
  • Lime wedges - 2 pieces
  • Water - 300 ml

Steps

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, black pepper, and sesame oil to create a marinade.
  3. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips and add it to the marinade. Allow it to marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  4. In a pot, bring 300 ml of water to a boil. Add the soaked rice, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes until cooked. Fluff with a fork after cooking.
  5. While the rice is cooking, heat vegetable oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated beef for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
  6. Once the beef is done, remove it from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  7. To serve, place a portion of rice on each plate, top with grilled beef, and garnish with cucumber slices, julienned carrot, and fresh cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
