Ingredients

  • Snakehead fish (Cá Lóc) - 400 grams, cleaned and cut into fillets
  • Lemongrass - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 10 grams, sliced thinly
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Chili pepper - 1, sliced (optional for spice)
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 20 grams, chopped
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Water - 0.5 liters

Steps

  1. Prepare a steaming pot by filling it with 0.5 liters of water and bringing it to a boil.
  2. In a bowl, combine the snakehead fish fillets with lemongrass, ginger, garlic, chili pepper, fish sauce, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Place the marinated fish fillets in a heatproof dish and sprinkle the chopped cilantro, mint, and green onion over the top.
  4. Once the water is boiling, place the dish with the fish into the steaming pot, cover, and steam for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Remove the dish from the steamer and serve hot, garnished with any remaining herbs.
