Ingredients

  • Snakehead fish fillet - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Lemongrass - 1 stalk, finely chopped
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Coconut flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Mint leaves - 10 leaves, chopped
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges
  • Chili sauce - for serving (optional)

Steps

  1. In a food processor, combine the snakehead fish, minced garlic, chopped shallots, lemongrass, fish sauce, coconut flour, egg, black pepper, cilantro, and mint. Pulse until well blended but slightly chunky.
  2. Form the mixture into 2 equal-sized patties.
  3. Heat a grill or non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. To assemble the burgers, place each patty on a large lettuce leaf, add cucumber slices, and garnish with additional mint and cilantro. Squeeze lime juice over the top.
  5. Serve with chili sauce on the side, if desired.
