Ingredients

  • White fish fillet (e.g., tilapia or snapper) - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Scallions - 2, chopped
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Red chili - 1, sliced (optional)
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Prepare the fish by rinsing it under cold water and patting it dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, lemon juice, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  3. Place the fish fillet in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it's evenly coated. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  4. While the fish is marinating, prepare a steaming setup by boiling water in a pot and placing a steaming rack or plate inside.
  5. Place the marinated fish on the steaming rack and sprinkle chopped scallions and sliced red chili on top.
  6. Cover and steam the fish for about 12-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Once cooked, carefully remove the fish from the steamer, garnish with chopped cilantro, and serve immediately.
