  • Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Soy sauce (low sodium) - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime - 1, juiced
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - a handful, for garnish
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Red chili - 1, sliced (optional for heat)

Steps

  1. Prepare the fish fillets by patting them dry and placing them on a heatproof plate.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, lime juice, and sesame oil together.
  3. Spread the minced garlic and julienned ginger over the fish fillets, followed by the chopped spring onions.
  4. Drizzle the soy sauce mixture over the fish, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Sprinkle black pepper to taste, and add sliced red chili if desired.
  6. Set up a steamer pot or a large pot with a steaming rack and bring water to a boil.
  7. Once boiling, carefully place the plate with fish in the steamer and cover it.
  8. Steam the fish for about 15-20 minutes or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  9. Once done, remove the plate from the steamer and garnish the fish with fresh cilantro before serving.
