Ingredients

  • Salmon fillet - 300 grams
  • Lemongrass stalks - 2, minced
  • Garlic cloves - 2, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Fresh cilantro - 10 grams, chopped
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chili (optional) - 1, sliced
  • Water - 500 ml

Steps

  1. Prepare the salmon by patting it dry with a paper towel and placing it in a shallow dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the minced lemongrass, minced garlic, grated ginger, fish sauce, lime juice, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Pour the marinade over the salmon fillet, ensuring it is well-coated. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Fill a steamer pot with 500 ml of water and bring it to a boil.
  5. Place the marinated salmon on a steaming plate or bamboo steamer and sprinkle chopped cilantro and sliced chili on top.
  6. Once the water is boiling, place the steaming plate in the steamer and cover it with a lid.
  7. Steam the salmon for 12-15 minutes or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Serve the steamed salmon hot with steamed rice and a side of lime wedges.
