  • Nori sheets - 2 sheets, cut into strips
  • Rice flour - 50 grams
  • Cornstarch - 30 grams
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cold sparkling water - 150 ml
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Lemon wedges - for serving
  • Chili sauce - for dipping

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into fillet shapes resembling fish.
  2. Wrap each tofu piece with a strip of nori, ensuring it's well-covered.
  3. In a bowl, mix the rice flour, cornstarch, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Gradually add the cold sparkling water to the flour mixture, whisking until you achieve a smooth, thick batter.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Dip each nori-wrapped tofu piece into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
  7. Carefully place the battered tofu into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  8. Remove the fried tofu from the oil and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  9. Serve hot with lemon wedges and chili sauce for dipping.
