Ingredients
- Glutinous rice flour - 100 grams
- Water - 150 ml
- Mung beans (dried) - 50 grams
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil (for frying) - 500 ml
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Rinse the mung beans under cold water and soak them for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain and steam the mung beans for about 20 minutes until soft. Transfer to a bowl and mash them.
- Mix in the sugar and salt with the mashed mung beans until well combined. Allow the mixture to cool, then form it into small balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour and water to form a smooth dough. The dough should be pliable but not too sticky.
- Divide the dough into equal pieces (about 30 grams each). Flatten each piece into a disc, place a mung bean ball in the center, and carefully wrap the dough around it, sealing it completely.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently add the dumplings, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the dumplings for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- Remove the fried bánh rán with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with sesame seeds while still warm.
- Serve hot and enjoy your delicious bánh rán!
