Ingredients

  • Pork shoulder - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 1, finely chopped
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Lettuce leaves (large) - 4 leaves
  • Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1/2, julienned
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Jalapeño - 1, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, chopped shallots, fish sauce, soy sauce, honey, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Cut the pork shoulder into thick slices and marinate in the mixture for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the marinated pork slices for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. While the pork is grilling, prepare the lettuce wraps by washing and drying the lettuce leaves.
  6. Once the pork is cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into smaller pieces.
  7. Assemble the lettuce wraps by placing grilled pork, cucumber slices, carrot strips, cilantro, and jalapeño (if using) onto each lettuce leaf.
  8. Serve with lime wedges on the side for an extra burst of flavor.
