Ingredients

  • Pork shoulder - 300 grams
  • Lemongrass - 2 stalks, minced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 1 medium, minced
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar substitute (erythritol) - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Cilantro - 20 grams, chopped
  • Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
  • Red chili - 1, sliced (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large (for wrapping)
  • Cooking oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Slice the pork shoulder into thin strips for better marination and grilling.
  2. In a bowl, combine minced lemongrass, garlic, shallots, fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar substitute, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Add the pork strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Heat a grill pan over medium heat and add cooking oil.
  5. Remove the pork from the marinade and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  6. While the pork is grilling, prepare the lettuce leaves, cucumber slices, and red chili for garnish.
  7. Once the pork is done, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.
  8. To assemble, place a few pieces of grilled pork on a lettuce leaf, top with cucumber slices, chopped cilantro, and red chili (if using).
  9. Wrap the lettuce leaf around the filling, securing it like a taco, and enjoy your Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng Sả!
