Ingredients

  • Baguette - 1 small (about 100g)
  • Firm tofu - 150g
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Carrot - 50g, julienned
  • Cucumber - 50g, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - 10g, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 10g, chopped
  • Chili sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into slices.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Marinate the tofu slices in this mixture for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the marinated tofu and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  4. While the tofu is cooking, prepare the vegetables by julienning the carrot and slicing the cucumber.
  5. Once the tofu is cooked, slice the baguette open lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  6. Layer the grilled tofu, carrot, cucumber, cilantro, and mint inside the baguette.
  7. Drizzle chili sauce over the filling for an extra kick, then close the baguette.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Bánh Mì Sòi warm.
