- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Lettuce leaves (butter or romaine) - 4 large leaves
- Cucumber - 1 small, sliced thinly
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Chili pepper - 1 small, sliced (optional)
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, minced garlic, black pepper, and lime juice to create a marinade.
- Slice the chicken breast into thin strips and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add sesame oil.
- Add the marinated chicken strips to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
- While the chicken is cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves by rinsing and patting them dry.
- Once the chicken is done, assemble the bánh mì by placing a few strips of chicken in the middle of a lettuce leaf.
- Top with cucumber slices, chopped cilantro, mint leaves, and chili pepper if using.
- Wrap the lettuce leaf around the filling and serve immediately.
