Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Lettuce leaves (butter or romaine) - 4 large leaves
  • Cucumber - 1 small, sliced thinly
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Chili pepper - 1 small, sliced (optional)
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, minced garlic, black pepper, and lime juice to create a marinade.
  2. Slice the chicken breast into thin strips and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add sesame oil.
  4. Add the marinated chicken strips to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves by rinsing and patting them dry.
  6. Once the chicken is done, assemble the bánh mì by placing a few strips of chicken in the middle of a lettuce leaf.
  7. Top with cucumber slices, chopped cilantro, mint leaves, and chili pepper if using.
  8. Wrap the lettuce leaf around the filling and serve immediately.
