Ingredients

  • Baguette - 2 pieces
  • Halal chicken breast - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cucumber - 1, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1, julienned
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Sriracha sauce - 2 teaspoons
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime - 1, juiced
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, lime juice, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Add the Halal chicken breast to the marinade, ensuring it is fully coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. While the chicken is marinating, prepare the vegetables by slicing the cucumber and julienning the carrot.
  4. Preheat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into thin strips.
  6. To assemble the bánh mì, slice the baguettes lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  7. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each baguette and add a layer of Sriracha sauce on the other side.
  8. Layer the grilled chicken strips inside the baguette, followed by cucumber slices, julienned carrots, and chopped cilantro.
  9. Close the sandwich and serve immediately, optionally with extra Sriracha on the side.
