Ingredients
- Baguette - 2 pieces
- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Pickled daikon - 1/4 cup (optional)
- Chili sauce - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
Steps
- Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into slices about 1 cm thick.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Marinate the tofu slices in this mixture for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated tofu slices and cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- While the tofu is cooking, prepare the vegetables: julienne the carrot, slice the cucumber, and chop the cilantro.
- Once the tofu is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- Slice the baguettes in half lengthwise, without cutting all the way through. Lightly toast them in the oven or on a pan if desired.
- Assemble the bánh mì by placing the crispy tofu in the baguette, followed by the julienned carrot, cucumber slices, fresh cilantro, and pickled daikon if using.
- Drizzle with chili sauce to taste, close the baguette, and serve immediately.
